Getting Started

Introduction

Thank you for choosing AIM Toolbar, Internet Edition! By using this product to it’s fullest potential you can save loads of time and money.

Aimsoft Development Corporation's AIM Toolbar program is a universal version of the control bars that are increasingly prevalent in today’s Windows™ applications. These control bars afford a significant timesaving by allowing you to invoke various program functions with a single mouse click, rather than searching through the menu hierarchy for the operation you want.

The problem is that most of the Buttons in these control bars are operation-specific. That is, their functions are predefined and cannot be changed. And in the limited number of programs that do permit some level of Button customization, each control bar employs a unique user interface and different options that must be learned. You have to learn only one interface with AIM Toolbar.

AIM Toolbar is a consistent and customizable control bar that can be embedded into many Windows 32 bit applications. Once attached, it becomes an integral part of the program, positioning itself seamlessly within the application without covering any of your valuable workspace. Once saved, your custom Toolbar will load automatically every time its host application is launched.

With AIM Toolbar, you can select which Buttons are in the Toolbar, what they look like, how many there are, how they are arranged and, most importantly, their functionality. Each Button’s purpose is defined by recording a series of actions or events through keyboard and/or mouse inputs. The macros then can be played back simply by clicking on the Button.

If you know how to access application functions, you already know how to automate the process with a macro. All you have to do with AIM Toolbar is start a recording session, perform the task and then terminate recording. You now have a macro to do the job for you with a single mouse click.

You can use Buttons to select a single menu function or to perform multiple tasks. On a more labor-intensive scale, you can automate lengthy procedures like filling in repetitive fields in a standardized form.

Some of AIM Toolbar’s features are:

·      Your custom Toolbars load automatically after they are initially attached to the application.

·      Your Toolbar can operate in concert with any existing control bars.

·      Toolbars can be anchored in a fixed location on any four sides of an application.

·      Launch URL's, Email, and other macros, even switch between applications, from within active programs.

·      Each Toolbar accommodates unlimited Buttons which can be organized under custom Tabs.

·      Macros can be assigned to keyboard combinations and mouse Buttons.

·      Buttons and groups of Buttons, as well as their associated macros, can be dragged and dropped within a Toolbar.

·      User-entered comments (Tool tips) are displayed for each Button by placing the mouse pointer on them.

·      Macros can be easily edited in a text format; Button faces can be altered at the pixel level.

You can use the companion Icon Editor program to further customize your Toolbars by creating your own collections of Button faces. Graphic images can be captured from anywhere on the monitor, including existing control bars, and turned into Buttons for use within AIM Toolbar. You can also lift larger images from the screen and then send them to the clipboard for general use. Icons may also be extracted from DLL or EXE files.

Once they have been attached, Toolbars will load automatically whenever their host applications are launched. Auto-loading assumes that AIM Toolbar is running, however. You may wish to place the program in the Startup Group to ensure that it will launch with Windows and that your custom Toolbars will always load with their respective applications. Refer to your Windows User Guide for more information on including AIM Toolbar in the Startup Group.

A new discipline could be required to get the most out of AIM Toolbar. Attach a toolbar to an application. As you work in the app make sure that you note the times you repeat multiple mouse clicks or keystrokes. Think in terms of reducing the interaction time with the program even if it is only turning two steps into one. All these work simplification techniques and modifications in your work habits add up quickly in saving you time and making you more productive. Try it.
