AIM Keys is a great utility for anyone wanting to save time. Here are just a few of the many ways AIM Keys can be used to save time and improve efficiency:

Macros

• Windows shortcuts: Replace hard to remember Windows keyboard shortcuts with much easier ("np" for Notepad program) text shortcuts.. You can type the shortcut in any program, even in the programs that have no keyboard input (empty desktop, MS Paint, etc.) and the shortcut will be performed.



• Customize “old favorite” applications: Customize macros for your favorite “out of date” applications to get more out of what you already have.



• Cross-application tasks: By using the Application Execute and Run Macro syntax commands you can design macros that will work with multiple applications. This will reduce keyboard and mouse intensive, everyday tasks down to a single set of keystrokes.



• One time, single use macro: Use the Default item found in the Options dialog to record “ single use” macros.

Text-replacement

• Phrases: Why type the same phrases over and over again? Create a library of most frequently used phrases and use it in any word processor, text editor or e-mail program you choose.



• File paths: You can predefine shortcuts for your file paths (documents, projects, source files, etc.) that you use most often. These shortcuts you can use, for example, to Open or Save as dialogues, to switch to a desired directory or in other file management programs to change the directory quickly and easily.

• E-mail and URL addresses: You can create a list of your mostly used e-mail and URL addresses. Once defined these addresses can be used not only in your e-mail or browser client(s) when sending mail but also in any other kind of correspondence where you are required to type an e-mail or URL address.
